SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) A southwest Missouri man is suing after two Greene County officials told him to stop sending unwanted emails.

The Springfield News-Leader reports that Christopher Cross alleges in his 32-page suit that the county’s presiding commissioner, Bob Cirtin, and Sheriff Jim Arnott conspired to infringe on his civil rights.

Cirtin says he and other elected officials have received flurries of emails from Cross on a variety of topics, including general reflections on the national political atmosphere. Cirtin says Cross is “relentless.”

Starting Aug. 21, through several exchanges, Cirtin told Cross to stop emailing him. Cirtin cited harassment and said the sheriff would be notified if Cross didn’t cease.

Arnott also asked Cross to not include him on his email list. Arnott says he won’t discuss a pending lawsuit.
