Bobby Don Morris of rural Mountain Home was given 10 years in the Arkansas Department of Correction after pleading guilty to a number of drug-related charges during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.
According to court records, the 52-year-old Morris has been arrested and convicted on numerous occasions on various drug charges.
In one of his latest cases, Morris was taken into custody when officers went to an address on County Road 284 seeking another person who was a probation absconder.
Morris was also found at the residence — lying on a mattress in a detached garage.
Officers located smoking pipes used to ingest methamphetamine. In addition, officers checked the pockets of a jacket belonging to Morris and found approximately 17.8 grams of methamphetamine and two small baggies of marijuana. On a shelf near the mattress where Morris had been when officers arrived, a plastic cylinder containing 11 blue pills was found. The pills were later identified as Clonazepam and Diazepam, both schedule IV controlled substances.
When Circuit Judge John Putman asked Morris if he was guilty of the charges, he replied, “you bet I am”.
Morris told Judge Putman that this was the last time he would be in court charged with drug offenses. As he stood behind the podium located in front of the bench, Morris said, “I promise that you won’t see me on this side again”.
