A light session of the Cotter City Council was highlighted by consideration of abandonment of an alley way.

The council did not take action on the possible abandonment. According to Mayor Peggy Hammack, new information was obtained on the issue, and attorney Johnnie Copeland requested the ordinance be addressed at the next meeting September 22nd.

In other business, three street paving bids were presented to the city council. Mayor Hammack says the lowest bid was provided by Dilbeck Excavation, Inc., of Mountain Home.

Mayor Hammack also shared a letter from the Legislative Joint Auditing Committee with good news. According to the letter, the offices of the mayor, recorder/treasurer, district court clerk and police chief are in substantial compliance with Arkansas fiscal and financial laws.

In addition, some individuals and companies were publicly thanked. Mayor Hammack showed appreciation to Steven Dewey of Twin Lakes Plumbing for his donation of parts and labor to repair the water fountain and restrooms at the North Arkansas Youth Center. She also thanked Discount Auto Sales and Towing for donating cars for extraction training at the Cotter Volunteer Fire Department, and the final appreciation went to an anonymous citizen for donating $2,300 to the Cotter Police Department.
