Stone County men arrested on drug charges

     Two Stone County men were arrested in two seperate incidents, both were booked on drug charges.

     According to Stone County Sheriff Lance Bonds, 56-year-old Lonnie Mingues of Pleasant Grove was charged with a Class D felony of possession of a schedule II controlled substance, a Class A misdemeanor of possession of drug paraphernalia and driving on a suspended driver’s license.

     The incident started when Deputy Justin Meeks was patrolling on Highway 14 near St. James, and he encountered a vehicle dragging something metallic under the car causing sparks that was hitting the gas tank. During the vehicle stop, it was discovered that Mingues had an active warrant out of Independence County. After Mingues was taken into custody, Deputy Meeks located a small plastic baggie in the car with a white crystal substance that field tested to be crystal methamphetamine. Meeks also found a marijuana pipe in the center console. Lonnie Mingues was taken to the Stone County Dentention Center.

     In a different incident, 19-year-old Bobby Mingues of Pleasant Grove was arrested on a Class D Felony of possession of a schedule II controlled substance, and a Class D Felony of possession of drug paraphernalia.

     Deputy Zach Alexander was patrolling Highway 14 when he observed a vehicle make a U-turn in the middle of an intersection and then take off at a high rate of speed. After a mile-and-a-half car chase, Deputy Alexander forced the car to stop. While approaching the vehicle, the deputy observed Bobby Mingues eating and chewing plastic baggies. Mingues stated that he had swallowed two baggies of methamphetamine, two marijuana joints and some pills during the car chase. He also stated he had used meth and marijuana that day.

     During a search of Mingues, Deputy Alexander located two baggies with a small amount of a white crystal substance and two pieces of tin foil with a crystal residue inside. Bobby Mingues was charged and transported to the Stone County Detention Center.
