The body of a missing Springfield man was located in eastern Douglas County. According to Douglas County Sheriff Chris Degase, 79-year-old Lanny Jackson was found dead in the Richard Massengill Conservation Area eight days after being entered as missing or endangered.
Sheriff Degase says his office received calls Monday from the Missouri State Highway Patrol and a conservation agent, and each had heard reports of a vehicle that was in the area at the end of County Road 272 off Route AH for several days. The vehicle was determined to belong to Jackson during a license check. Before a deputy responded to the scence, Jackson's body was located in the area.
Information was given to the Highway Patrol Troop D and the Springfield Police Department for notification of the family. Sheriff Degase says no foul play was suspected.
