A Mountain View man was arrested last weekend at a Stone County checkpoint. According to Stone County Sheriff Lance Bonds, 34-year-old Justin Roland faces charges of possession of a schedule IV or V controlled substance, crystal methamphetamine, DWI-drugs, tampering with physical evidence and driving on a suspended driver’s license.

Sheriff Bonds says deputies encountered a green Chevrolet four-door vehicle last Saturday at a safety checkpoint on Highway 14 near St. James. During contact with the driver, Roland, deputies realized his speech was slurred, and his eyes were bloodshot and watery.

Roland consented to a search of his vehicle, and Deputy Jason Jordan located a cigarette pack containing several green pills. During the search, Jordan heard the sound of cellophane being crumpled, and he says Roland was attempting to ingest the narcotics. The drugs were removed from Roland’s mouth by the deputies.

Roland was transported and processed at the Stone County Detention Center.
