An award-winning journalist will be a keynote speaker this week at the Donald W. Reynolds Library serving Baxter County. George Jared will present his book titled “Witches in West Memphis: The West Memphis Three and Another False Confession” Thursday afternoon from two to four.

Jared has written more stories about the famous “West Memphis Three” than any other journalist in history, and his book gives a comprehensive insider’s view into the case. According to the library, Jared recounts his firsthand court coverage, interviews with witnesses, research and other information he gathered in the case.

Jared also discusses two other cases in his book. One of those cases is on the local level about the unsolved 2004 murder of a college student near Melbourne. He also tells about a teen who falsely confessed to the murder of an 11-year-old girl near Gosnell.

Jared’s presentation is part of the Arkansas Heritage program series sponsored by the Friends of the Baxter County Library, and there is no cost to attend. For more information, contact Jennifer Veloria-Dunn at 870-580-0987, extension 2991.
