LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) – The chancellor of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences says he’s retiring next year after several years heading the state’s medical school and its largest public employer.
Dr. Dan Rahn announced Monday he’s retiring from the post effective July 31, 2017 after serving since 2009. University of Arkansas System President Donald Bobbitt will form a search committee to find Rahn’s successor.
Rahn came to Arkansas after serving as president of the Medical College of Georgia for eight years and as senior vice chancellor for health and medical programs for the University System of Georgia. University of Arkansas officials praised Rahn for the growth of educational degree programs and student numbers at UAMS. They also praised him for strengthening UAMS’ statewide presence and focusing on the health of underserved populations.
