The Izard County boys’ golf team won the 1A-4 District Golf Tournament Tuesday at Coopers Hawk Golf Course in Melbourne. The Cougars shot a 263 to easliy beat second place Hillcrest by 40 strokes.
Cody Workman shot an 87 and Tyler Pemberton and Matthew Workman each shot 88 as all three earned all-conference honors. The Cougars now advance to the Class 1A State Tournament October 4th at the Course on Turkey Mountain at Horseshoe Bend.
Calico Rock fourth. Cole Whiteaker qualified for state with a 97.
On the girls’ side, Izard County’s Mikayla Kish shot an 88 to earn medalist and all-conference honors. She qualifies for the Class 1A State Tournament at Mountain Ranch September 26th.
