Bridge Bash, a full day of music and activities for all ages, is scheduled for Saturday at Big Spring Park in Cotter. The event, which benefits the Food Bank of North Central Arkansas and their 75 member hunger relief agencies in a nine county area, kicks off at 10 in the morning with their Stand Up for Hope Ceremony under the R. M. Ruthven Bridge over the White River, according to Jeff Quick, CEO of the food bank.

Bridge Bash is free and open to the public. Anyone wishing to participate in the Stand Up for Hope Ceremony can register and make a $20 donation that morning at the event. Those unable to attend can do so as a “Sleep in For Hope” participant and make their $20 donation and register online at the food bank website, http://www.foodbanknca.org
Every dollar donated will go directly to hunger relief, according to Quick, who says this year’s Bridge Bash goal is to raise $100,000.

Prior to the Stand Up for Hope Ceremony, there will be a kayak race starting at Bull Shoals Dam and the Warriors for Hope Color Run, a 5K run/walk, in Big Spring Park. Registration for the 5K run/walk begins at 7:30 a.m. in the park with a start time at 8 a.m. Registration for the kayak race begins at the dam at 8 a.m. with the race starting an hour later at 9.
Registration for the Bridge Bash Car, Truck and Bike Show begins at 9 in the morning at the park with the show starting at 10. The cost to enter a vehicle in the show is $10 or ten cans of nonperishable food items.
Duck races will be held every half hour beginning at noon until all ducks have raced.
A full day of activities for adults and children is planned with a dog show at 11 a.m.; vendor and craft booths; a live and silent auction, starting at noon, featuring everything from vacations to restaurant certificates; a Kids Korner with numerous children’s activities and food vendors to satisfy appetites from barbecue to deep fried peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

Through generous donations from local businesses and individuals who sponsor Bridge Bash, all of the money raised at the event will go directly to the 75 hunger relief organizations of the Food Bank of North Central Arkansas, says Quick. These agencies, including food pantries, shelters, weekend meals programs for school children and soup kitchens serve over 200,000 people in the food bank’s nine county service area of Baxter, Boone, Fulton, Izard, Marion, Newton, Searcy, Sharp and Stone counties.
