LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) – Little Rock Police have dropped a charge against an Arkansas lawmaker who officers said refused to leave a traffic stop he was filming.

Police spokesman Lt. Steve McClanahan said Tuesday that the misdemeanor obstruction of governmental operations charge had been dropped against Democratic state Rep. John Walker. Police arrested Walker and another attorney from his firm after officers said Walker refused to leave a traffic stop he was filming. McClanahan said the charge against the other attorney hasn’t been dropped.

McClanahan said police would release more details later Tuesday. An internal investigation of the arrest is ongoing.

Walker, a civil rights attorney, last year co-sponsored a law aimed in part at preventing authorities from prohibiting the filming of an arrest.
