Felony charges have been filed against a Calico Rock man who was found nude in a classroom at the Calico Rock Elementary School Friday morning. Izard County Sheriff Tate Lawrence says 36 year old Adam Rush is charged with commercial burglary and criminal mischief and a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest. He also is charged with disorderly conduct after destroying a security camera when he was being placed in the Izard County jail. Rush remains in the detention center with bond set at $30,000.
Sheriff Lawrence and Jerry Skidmore, superintendent of schools, estimates damages to the school and classroom as at least $15,000.
The sheriff says officers were dispatched to the school at 7 a.m. after receiving a call from a staff member who found Rush nude in a classroom. When officers arrived at the scene, Rush refused to submit to arrest or follow orders and was tased multiple times. Four deputies were required to subdue Rush, before he was under control and could be handcuffed.
Lawrence says the school staff and administration took appropriate action directing students to the gymnasium to avoid danger and being witness to the scene. Classes were later dismissed and the students returned home.
