Marshall woman killed in hunting accident

     A 29 year old Marshall woman was killed in a Searcy County hunting accident Tuesday morning. Searcy County Sheriff Joey Pruitt says the unidentified woman was killed by a man who was hunting with his son west of Marshall. According to the sheriff, the hunter was unaware the woman, who was not wearing hunter orange, was in the vicinity and mistook her for a deer.

     Sheriff Pruitt, who says his office was notified of the accident at 9:30 a.m., is not releasing the name of the victim, who was said to be the girlfriend of the man’s son.

     The accident is currently under investigation by the Searcy County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Arkansas State Police and Arkansas Department of Game and Fish.
