Two Izard County residents were arrested Saturday night on drug charges after one was found passed out in a vehicle in front of a Mt. Pleasant convenience store. Izard County Sheriff Tate Lawrence says 24 year old Melody Hunter of Mt. Pleasant, who was found in the vehicle, is charged with public intoxication, possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of possession of a controlled substance. Her companion, 24 year old Tyler Scott Howell of Calico Rock, who was found standing outside the vehicle, is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance as well as a Missouri parole violation.   Both are being held in the Izard County jail where Howell is held without bond and Hunter’s bond is set at $3,840.

According to the sheriff, deputies from his office responded to a call of a possible drug overdose. After Hunter finally responded, marijuana and pills were located near her. A check on Howell revealed he was wanted on an arrest warrant from Missouri for the parole violation.

Sheriff Lawrence says both Hunter and Howell are very familiar to local law enforcement.
