This year the exterior of the courthouse will not be lit, due the building restoration that is in progress.

The tree lighting ceremony can be heard on ktlo.com.

Following the tree lighting on the square, the annual Christmas parade will begin at 6 from Hospital Drive down Highway 5 to Main Street, past the courthouse and ending at the Guy Berry College and Career Academy.

Tracy Jones from the chamber says the theme of this year’s parade is Christmas in Candy Land. She says prizes will be awarded for floats in keeping with the theme. Categories are for commercial, youth, religious and civic organizations.

Speaking of Santa Claus, Jones says he is making a special trip down from the North Pole just for the Mountain Home Christmas Parade, so she asks that there be no other Santas in the parade.

Because the parade starts after dark, Jones asks everyone to be especially careful driving the parade route.
