Gainesville’s high school basketball teams were able to sweep Koshkonong on Thursday. The mercy rule was invoked in the girls’ game as the Lady Bulldogs routed the Lady Jays 76-15. Gainesville finished the night by winning the boys’ contest over Koshkonong 47-42.
The Mountain Home freshmen boys’ basketball team went to Har-Ber High School and was edged out by Springdale Southwest by a final of 39-38. The Junior Bombers were led by Josh Prinner with 11 points. Mountain Home will start action in the Cavemen Tournament at Cave City on Saturday as they face the host team.
The semifinals of the Norfork Junior Tournament wrapped up Thursday at the Bobby D. Hulse Gymnasium.
The host Junior Lady Panthers advanced to the girls’ title game after beating Flippin 33-26. Norfork’s opponent on Wednesday will be Mountain View.
Flippin was also eliminated from the boys’ bracket. The Junior Bobcats lost to Salem 51-29.
Melbourne will be the Junior Greyhounds’ matchup in Wednesday’s championship contest. Calico Rock fell to the Junior Bearkatz 44-26.
