Cotter was swept in three basketball games at home by Izard County.
The senior boys’ game ended with the Warriors falling to the Cougars 67-59. Taylor Reynolds led Izard County with 26 points and ten rebounds, Justus Cooper scored 16 points and grabbed ten rebounds, and Tyler Reynolds added ten points. The Cougars improve to 10-6 on the season and 4-0 in 2A/1A-3 district play.
Cotter also lost the senior girls’ game to Izard County 66-40. The Lady Cougars were led by Kennedy Cooper with 31 points, and Jen King chipped in 16. Izard County is now 11-2 on the year and 3-1 in the district.
The evening began with the junior boys’ game as Cotter was defeated by Izard County 42-10. Caleb Faulkner provided a double double for the Junior Cougars with 11 points and ten rebounds, and Colby Everett had ten points. Izard County is now 7-4 overall and 3-0 in the district.
Norfork’s high school basketball teams were able to pick up a sweep as they hosted Viola for Homecoming. In the boys’ game, the Panthers defeated the Longhorns 40-21. Norfork also took the girls’ contest over Viola 95-21.
Yellville-Summit picked up a pair of boys’ victories against Bruno-Pyatt Friday at Eros.
The Panthers topped the Patriots in the senior high game by a final of 56-15. Nash Dowden and Seth Evans paced Yellville-Summit with 12 points each.
In the junior high contest, Yellville-Summit edged out Bruno-Pyatt 38-36.
Salem ended up splitting a pair of high school games with Mammoth Spring.
The Lady Greyhounds beat the Lady Bears in the girls’ game 64-37. Mammoth Spring was led by Brianna Hocum and Stephine Henry with 16 points each. The Lady Bears drop to 4-5 on the season and 0-3 in the 2A/1A-3.
Salem did not fare as well in the boys’ contest as they fell to Mammoth Spring 53-42. Logan Skaggs was the Bears’ top scorer with 18 points, and Sagen Godwin added 16. Mammoth Spring improves to 10-2 on the year and 3-0 in district action.
Both Mammoth Spring teams will be in Pleasant Plains on Monday for their first games in the Midland Invitational Tournament.
Marshall split a pair of high school games at home against Episcopal Collegiate.
The girls’ game went to the Lady Bobcats as they posted a 57-40 decision over the Lady Wildcats. Kenzie Wallace led Marshall with 22 points, and Macie Woods and Savannah Hale chipped in 11 each. The Lady Bobcats’ record now stands at 6-2.
It was a different result in the boys’ game as Marshall fell to Episcopal 53-47. The Bobcats were led by Jacob Loggins with 15 points, and Bub Deckard scored 11 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Marshall drops to 6-2 on the season.
Mountain Home Christian Academy went to West Plains and grabbed a two-game sweep over Ozarks Christian Academy.
The varsity game saw the Eagles come away with the 66-35 victory. Matt Woods was Mountain Home Christian’s leading scorer with 17 points, and Sam Jones finished with ten.
Mountain Home Christian also defeated Ozarks Christian 57-32 in the junior varsity contest. Tenton Cox paced the J.V. Eagles with 17 points.
