A basket with eight seconds left gave the Mountain Home High School girls' basketball team a fifth-place finish in the third annual Tech Invitational. The Lady Bombers edged out Marion 37-35 Saturday at Greene County Tech High School in Paragould.

For the second day in a row, Mountain Home was in a tight battle all throughout the contest. The game was knotted a 33 apiece with three minutes left on the clock. The Lady Patriots would score the next bucket, but it would be the last one they got. The game was tied back up on a Hannah Pfeifer layup with about a minute left. After Marion missed their next attempt, the Lady Bombers got the rebound with 30 seconds remaining, and they ran several seconds before this happened.

That was Cade Carlton with the call. Mountain Home still had three fouls to give, and they used two of them to keep the Lady Patriots from getting a good look to the basket. After the last foul was committed, Marion tried to inbound the ball with 2.3 seconds left, but the Lady Bombers stole the pass and ran out the clock.

Maly Tabor led Mountain Home with 12 points. For the Lady Patriots, Marie Hunter scored 11.

The Lady Bombers improve to 3-3 on the season, and they'll face Monticello Thursday to begin a three-day run in the Centennial Bank Bulldog Classic at Fayetteville.
