Mtn. Home man arrested after fleeing police

     A Mountain Home man with arrest warrants from the Baxter County Sheriff and Mountain Home Police was arrested Tuesday by Mountain Home Police following a traffic stop. Mountain Home Police Chief Carry Manuel says 27 year old Matthew Sebree is charged with driving on a suspended license, fleeing, reckless driving, failure to stop for a stop sign, fictitious vehicle tags, no liability insurance and warrant for failure to pay fines on a previous charge of fleeing. Sebree had additional warrants for his arrest from the office of the Baxter County Sheriff. His bond has been set at $3,055.

     Chief Manuel says a police officer attempted to stop a vehicle displaying expired tags near the intersection of 7th and Hickory streets. The driver failed to stop and was pursued to South Street, failing to stop again at two stop signs. On South Street the driver stopped in the middle of the street, jumped from the vehicle and fled on foot while the vehicle rolled off the street and struck a natural gas line near the Arkansas Probation and Parole Office.

      An officer assisting the pursuing officer located the fleeing suspect, Sebree, two blocks away where he was arrested An unidentified passenger in the vehicle was detained and later released without charges.

      The Mountain Home Fire Department and Black Hills Entergy personnel responded to the gas leak caused by the suspect’s vehicle.

      Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery says during a traffic stop early Monday morning a passenger in the vehicle, identified as Matthew Sebree, fled the scene near Kentwood Drive and State Highway 5 north. The driver of the vehicle was not charged.
