Thursday schedule includes MHHS teams in tournament play

Basketball makes up the local Thursday schedule as both of Mountain Home’s high school teams will be in tournament play.



The Bomber boys will continue action in the Cyclone Classic at Russellville. Mountain Home’s second opponent of the tournament will be Greenwood.

The Bombers bring a 1-6 record into the game after suffering an eight-point loss to Sylvan Hills in the opening round. The Bulldogs were edged out by Van Buren in the first game of the Cyclone Classic.

Tip-off is scheduled for four p.m. Thursday’s game can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com.



The Mountain Home girls will be in Fayetteville as the Centennial Bank Bulldog Classic gets underway. The Lady Bombers’ first matchup to start the three-day run will be with Monticello.

Mountain Home is currently 3-3 on the season. The Lady Bombers’ last game was Saturday at Greene County Tech High School in Paragould when they defeated Marion to finish fifth in the Tech Invitational.

The Mark Martin Automotive/Lyon College High School Tournament resumes with games in Batesville and Southside. Two local girls’ teams will play at Becknell Gymnasium on the Lyon College campus as Calico Rock meets Cedar Ridge at 4:00, and Salem faces Pocahontas at 5:15. Four area boys’ teams will take the court at Southside High School as Viola takes on Cedar Ridge at 4:30, Salem plays Highland at 5:45, and Calico Rock will be paired with Izard County at 7:00.

In other high school basketball, Cotter hosts Sloan-Hendrix, Flippin entertains Yellville-Summit, Gainesville’s girls are home against Fordland, Melbourne hosts Mountain View, and Jasper travels to Alpena.



Mountain Home will have three junior high girls’ games in front of the home crowd as they meet Bentonville. The seventh grade game tips off at 4:00 followed by the eighth grade and freshmen contests.

Elsewhere on the junior high schedule, Marshall makes the trip to Bergman.
