The Mark Martin Automotive/Lyon College High School Tournament held is semifinals on Friday.

Viola’s boys were eliminated on the consolation side after falling to Highland 39-22. The Longhorns were led by Alex Waltrip with 12 points.

Izard County will be the Rebels’ opponent for the consolation championship following a 67-50 victory over Bald Knob. Justus Cooper paced the Cougars with 31 points and 18 rebounds, and Taylor Reynolds added 21 points and 14 boards. Izard County improves to 13-7 on the season.

On the girls’ consolation bracket, Salem was edged out by Calico Rock 50-49. Kaylea Walling led the Lady Greyhounds with 19 points. For the Lady Pirates, Kallie Fry scored 15 points, Josie McGowan had 12, and Kenlee Killien chipped in 11.

Calico Rock’s next opponent will be Izard County after they defeated Cave City 69-52. The Lady Cougars were led by Jen King with 18 points, Sam King finished with 15, and Kennedy Cooper ended up with 11. Izard County is now 13-3 on the year.

Mountain View’s girls advanced to the championship game by topping Southside Batesville 56-39. Kaley Shipman was the Lady Yellowjackets’ leading scorer with 24 points.

It was a different result for Mountain View in the boys’ semifinals as they lost to Southside 63-38. J.R. Anderson led the Yellowjackets with ten points.



Elsewhere, Yellville-Summit’s high school basketball teams picked up a pair of home victories over Bakersfield.

The boys’ game ended with the Panthers beating the Lions 51-30. Yellville-Summit was led by Nash Dowden with ten points.

It was also a good night for Yellville-Summit’s girls as they got past Bakersfield 46-30. Tayler McFarland was the Lady Panthers’ leading scorer with 13 points, and Kyli Duffy added 12.



Viola’s girls had a rough outing as they went to Mammoth Spring. The Lady Longhorns fell to the Lady Bears 53-25.



Gainesville advanced to the consolation final of the Mansfield Boys’ Tournament. The Bulldogs were a 61-53 winner over Lighthouse Christian.



Mountain Home Christian Academy had two games at Lebanon.

In the varsity game, the Eagles fell to the Rockets 67-60. Cooper Long led Mountain Home Christian with 19 points, and Matt Woods chipped in 12.

Mountain Home Christian fared better in the junior varsity contest as they beat up on Lebanon 51-13. The J.V. Eagles were led by Jack Wendfeldt with 13 points, and Trenton Cox scored 11.
