JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) _ Arkansas State has experienced its share of success
lately, having won at least a share of the Sun Belt Conference championship in
five of the last six seasons.
After recovering from an 0-4 start to this season, the Red Wolves (7-5) hope to
extend that success out of their own league when they face Central Florida (6-6)
in the Cure Bowl on Saturday.
Arkansas State started slowly this season with losses to Toledo and Auburn.
However, it was losses to Utah State and Football Championship Subdivision
member Central Arkansas that sent the Red Wolves to 0-4, defeats in which they
committed a combined seven turnovers.
Thanks to a renewed commitment to each other, brought on by third-year coach
Blake Anderson, Arkansas State’s players won seven of their final eight games.
