For over 40 years the Humane Society of North Central Arkansas has been rescuing unwanted and abandoned dogs and cats and finding new loving homes for them through their pet adoption programs. A no-kill shelter, the humane society relies on grants and donations for funding as well as help from dedicated volunteers.

Carolyn Carter, shelter manager of the local humane society, says two foundation grants are used to help low income families provide loving homes to pets. The spay and neuter assistance program is through a grant from PETCO, says Carter.
