Local schools receive recognition program funds

     Several school districts in the Twin Lakes Area have been awarded funds they've qualified for under the Arkansas School Recognition Program through the Arkansas Department of Education. The program provides financial awards to the top ten percent of public schools that achieve high student academic growth, including high graduation rates for secondary schools.
     Schools in the top five percent of performance get $100 per student and the top six to ten percent receive $50 per student. Awards of $100 per student are also given to the top five percent for growth and $50 for the top six to ten percent.
     The Cotter School District received a total of $39,600 for the top six to ten percent in both performance and growth at Amanda Gist Elementary School. Norfork High School received $10,250 for placing in the top six to ten percent in growth and high graduation. Yellville-Summit High School received $17,250 in the same category.
     In other schools across the listening area, Viola High School received $18,200 for the top five percent in growth and graduation. Salem Elementary School was in both the top five percent for performance and top six to ten percent in growth for a total $64,950. Salem High School was in the top five percent for growth and received $35,200.
     The Izard County Consolidated School District received funds of $22,100. Searcy County received $28,500. Mountain View School District made the list, receiving $23,400 and the Mammoth Spring School District was awarded $33,300. Harrison School District topped the list receiving a total of $183,950.
