The Mammoth Spring High School girls’ basketball team won its opener Tuesday in the Division I bracket of the NEA Tournament at the ASU Convocation Center in Jonesboro. The Lady Bears defeated Rector by a score of 48-34. Brianna Hocum led Mammoth Spring with 26 points. The Lady Bears improve to 8-9 on the season, and they’ll return to the Convo on Thursday to take on top-seeded Bay.
Bakersfield’s boys had a rough outing at home as they were edged out by Dora 55-52. The Falcons were led by Austin White with 14 points, and Brent McKemie and Kaleb Harris added 12 each.
