MOUNTAIN PINE, Ark. (AP) – Police say a Mountain Pine store manager shot an alleged burglar in the face.

A Garland County sheriff’s incident report says the manager of Mountain Pine Corner Store and another person arrived early Thursday at the business and heard an alarm going off inside. Police say the manager opened the door and saw a man wearing a mask standing behind the counter with the cash register open. The report says the manager ran inside to retrieve a shotgun and that the suspect fired a handgun at him. The manager returned fire, and the suspect was struck in the face.

The Sentinel-Record reports the 23-year-old suspect was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries that didn’t appear to be life-threatening. He’ll be taken to the Garland County Detention Center on several charges, including aggravated robbery.
