Two new parks in South Central Missouri

     South Central Missouri will soon have three new state parks, one in Oregon and the other in Douglas Country, according to a recent announcement by Missouri Governor Jay Nixon.

     Bryant Creek State Park, located in Douglas County three miles north of Rockbridge will feature 2,917 acres consisting of thick oak and pine forests and nearly 2 miles of river hills and bluffs along Bryant Creek, according to the Ozark County Times. The largest is Eleven Point State Park in Oregon County, with over 4,100 acres located 45 miles east of West Plains.   The third park, Ozark Mountain State Park, is located Northwest of Branson in Taney County and features over 1,000 acres of grassy flower-filled ridges and hills.

     Plans for developing the parks are in the preliminary stages, according to the Ozark County Times. The public will be introduced to Bryant Creek State Park at a hike planned January 8 at 2 p.m.
