MH boys win, girls lose thriller in own tournament

It was a split for the Mountain Home High School basketball teams Wednesday night in the second night of the First Arkansas Bail Bonds Tournament at Bomber Gymnasium.



The Lady Bombers suffered a 47-41 overtime loss to Paragould. The Lady Rams got a pair of free throws with 2.7 seconds left to go up by three points. Mountain Home threw the inbounds pass to half court, it was deflected and picked up by Vinessa Daniel who was fouled while attempting a half court shot at the buzzer. Daniel went to the free throw line with no time left and hit all three free throws to force overtime.

In the extra period, Mountain Home did not score a field goal and was outscored 10-4.

The game featured 12 lead changes and seven ties.

Alivia O’Brien led Mountain Home’s scoring with 10 points. Zoey Beasley had 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Lady Rams.

Paragould improves to 8-4 while the Lady Bombers fall to 6-7.



The Bomber boys picked up an impressive 53-43 win over Farmington for their third straight win. The teams exchanged leads three times early but Mountain Home lead 9-5 at the end of one quarter and pushed the lead to 25-12 by halftime. The Bombers led by as many as 15 in the second half before the Cardinals got to within nine in the final minute.

Luke Kruse had a double double for the Bombers with 13 points and 10 rebounds and Landon Crider added 11 points. Mountain Home improves to 4-8 on the season.

Farmington got 30 points from Matthew Wilson as they fall to 10-3.





In other girl’s games, Watson Chapel topped Greenwood 52-36, Farmington whipped Highland 65-35 and Southside Batesville defeated Morrilton 53-37.

In other boy’s games, Southside Batesville defeated Marianna 58-37, Brinkley held off Hamburg 69-59 and Paragould topped Highland 57-21.
