MHHS teams split games to wrap up tourney

It was mixed results again Thursday for the Mountain Home High School basketball teams on the final day of the First Arkansas Bail Bonds Tournament at Bomber Gymnasium.



The Lady Bombers won the third place game 47-40 over Greenwood. Mountain Home rode the hot shooting of Hannah Pfiefer to build a lead the never relinquished. Pfiefer scored 22 of her game high 24 points in the first half and the Lady Bombers were up 29-18 at the break. The Lady Bombers would hit only three field goals in the second half but scored 10 points from the free throw line to secure the win.

In addition to Pfiefer’s big game, Vinessa Daniel had 10 points and 10 rebounds as the Lady Bombers improve to 7-7 on the season.

Greenwood falls to 8-7.



The Mountain Home boys lost in the championship game to Southside Batesville 57-50. It was a close game throughout with the final margin of seven points the largest lead for either team all night.

Mitchell McDonald hit four three pointers and scored 18 points to pace Mountain Home while Luke Kruse added 13. Mountain Home falls to 4-9 with the loss.

Southside Batesville is now 12-1 on the season.



In other girl’s scores, Watson Chapel claimed the tournament title with a 62-36 whipping of Paragould, Farmington topped Southside Batesvile 55-28 for fith place and the 7th place game went to Highland, 44-42 over Morrilton.



In other boy’s games, Farmington defeated Marianna 60-47 for third place, Paragould blasted Brinkley 54-12 in the fifth place game and Highland downed Hamburg 53-38 for seventh place.
