Vandalism reported in area of Mtn. Home

     Mountain Home Police Chief Carry Manuel is asking the public for help identifying those responsible for criminal mischief Wednesday night and early Thursday morning in areas of Mountain Home.
     The chief says Thursday morning his office received six reports of black spray painting on property on Windbrook, Redbud and Lawrence Streets as well as Dale Avenue and Cardinal Drive. Another incident is reported to have occurred late Thursday night or early Friday morning on Second Street. The vandalism included spray painting a small yard bridge, mail box, vehicle door, side of a house, two garage doors and a street sign. Some of the spray painting included profanity.
     Anyone with information is asked to call the Mountain Home Police Department at 425-6336.

Two Mountain Home men arrested on felony charges

     Two Mountain Home men, 52-year-old Randy Adams and 31-year-old Gearl Dale Adams were arrested Thursday on numerous charges after Sheriff's Deputies responded to a disturbance at a local communications business on 82 Buzzard Roost Road. At approximately 4:34 in the afternoon a call came in saying a man was inside the store threatening to shoot employees.
     According to a press release from Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery, Sergeant Brian Davis arrived on scene with the suspect, Gearl Adams, outside of the business. He ordered Adams to remove his hands from his pocket to which, Adams responded with expletives. He refused to comply and a struggle ensued. Sergeant Davis tried to deploy his taser however, the device malfunctioned. Other deputies arrived on scene and Adams, who is on probation with the Arkansas Department of Community Corrections, was taken into custody. Sergeant Davis had injuries to his forehead, nose and face.
     During the struggle, another man identified as Randy Adams, attempted to intervene. He was arrested for obstruction.
     During an investigation into the incident store personnel said both Randy and Gearl Adams were both under the influence of alcohol and had come into the store for phone repairs. They said they were not satisfied with the speed of service. Randy Adams began cussing at employees and threatened to hold them at gun point. He also threatened to put the repair technician into the hospital. Gearl Adams entered into a non-public area of the business as well and refused to leave. Deputies later discovered a pistol lying in plain view of the truck the two drove there.
     Randy Adams was charged with felony terroristic threatening as well as other misdemeanor charges. He was booked and released after posting a $15,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Circuit Court January 5th.
     Gearl Adams was charged with felony second degree battery on a police officer, failure to appear and probation violation, as well as other misdemeanor charges. He has a bond of $25,000 on probation holds. Gearl Adams has been booked into the Baxter County Detention Center a total of 29 times.

Two vehicle accident kills Searcy County man

     A two vehicle accident in Boone County Wednesday afternoon has killed 82-year-old Robert Stewart of Marshall. According to Arkansas State Trooper Jason Hutcheson, the accident occurred at 2:38, at the junction of U.S. Highway 65 south and 62 east. Stewart was attempting to make a left turn onto U.S. 65 from the inside traffic lane and pulled into the path of a northbound vehicle driven by 61-year-old Terry Wheeler of Western Grove.
     Wheeler and his passenger, 52-year-old Angela Perez of Marshall, were transported to North Arkansas Regional Medical Center. No information on their condition was available at the time of this report.
     Stewart's body was transported to the Boone County Morgue.

District Judge Van Gearhart set to retire

     Baxter County District Judge Van Gearhart is set to retire after 22 years of service. He moved to Mountain Home in January, 1976 and was elected in 1994.
     Gearhart spoke with Bob Knight at KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot studios this week and says he has seen a lot of changes since then.
