Friday schedule includes district home openers for MH

Basketball and bowling make up the local Friday schedule.



The Mountain Home High School basketball teams will play their first district games on their home floor. The Bombers and Lady Bombers welcome Vilonia to the Hangar.

Mountain Home’s girls are currently 7-8 on the season and 0-1 in the 6A/5A-2. The Lady Bombers are coming off a one-point loss to Batesville on Tuesday. Vilonia is 10-3 and 1-0. The Lady Eagles’ district opener was a win over Morrilton.

The Mountain Home boys are 5-9 overall and 1-0 in district action. The Bombers picked up a one-point overtime victory over Batesville three nights ago. Vilonia is 7-5 and 0-1. The Eagles’ last game was a loss to Morrilton.

The junior varsity games tip off at five p.m. The varsity contests begin around 6:00 and can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com.

Elsewhere in the 6A/5A-2, Batesville travels to Morrilton, and Searcy makes the short trip to Beebe.



The 43rd annual North Arkansas College Senior Boys and Girls Tournament will hold its semifinal round at the Pioneer Pavilion in Harrison. In the girls’ games, top-seeded Norfork and Yellville-Summit tip off at 4:00, and Omaha faces Jasper at 6:30. On the boys’ bracket, Omaha takes on Alpena at 5:15, and Cotter meets Highland at 7:45.

Gainesville’s girls will be in Sparta for a game originally scheduled for Thursday. The Lady Bulldogs will start the Lady Trojan Tournament against the host team at 7:00.

In other high school basketball, Cotter’s girls host Calico Rock, Bruno-Pyatt heads to St. Joe, Mammoth Spring travels to Brockwell to play Izard County, Bakersfield’s boys make the trip to Thayer, the Gainesville boys head to Spokane, Lutie entertains Couch, Dora’s boys travel to Norwood, Melbourne is home against Piggott, Rural Special makes the trip to Concord, Bergman hosts Green Forest, and Valley Springs entertains Huntsville.



In high school bowling, Flippin meets Southside at the Hollywood Bowl in Batesville.
