Two men were given probation in unrelated cases during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.

Chad Whitlow of Mountain Home was given six years probation after pleading guilty to charges of fleeing and possession of a controlled substance.

The 40-year-old Whitlow was arrested early last year when Baxter County deputies went to a home along State Highway 5 North after they were tipped that a person with an active arrest warrant was at the residence.

When the lawmen arrived, the wanted man and another male, later identified as Whitlow, bolted from the residence and ran into the woods. The pair was apprehended approximately 100-to-150 yards from the residence.

Whitlow was found to have morphine sulfate pills in his possession and had no prescription for the narcotic.

A petition to revoke a suspended sentence in an early case against Whitlow was not pursued by the state.

Charles Rouse, Jr., of Flippin was given five years probation after he pled guilty to drug-related charges that were filed against him last year.

Rouse was arrested June 29th after officers found a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine along with a quantity of marijuana and a broken smoking pipe in his vehicle during a traffic stop.
