Cotter boys, Norfork girls advance to Northark title games

The North Arkansas College Senior Boys and Girls Tournament held its semifinal round Friday at the Pioneer Pavilion in Harrison.

Cotter was able to advance to the championship game on the boys’ side. The Warriors defeated Highland 54-44.

Cotter’s final opponent in the tournament will be Alpena. The Leopards upset top-seeded Omaha by a score of 78-45.

In girls’ action, a battle between Lady Panthers ended with Norfork advancing to Saturday’s finals. Norfork eliminated Yellville-Summit 52-25. Yellville-Summit’s next game will be Monday when they host Cotter.

Jasper will be Norfork’s opponent in the title game. The Lady Pirates beat Omaha with a 55-38 decision.



Gainesville was able to advance to the semifinals of the Lady Trojan Tournament in Sparta. The Lady Bulldogs invoked the mercy rule as they routed the host team 59-23.



Mountain Home Christian Academy ended up splitting with Rolla Friday at Mansfield.

The varsity game ended with the Eagles falling to the Royals 51-43. Cooper Long led Mountain Home Christian with 14 points, and Matt Woods and Jordan Soloman added ten each.

It was a different result in the junior varsity contest as Mountain Home Christian beat Rolla 47-39. The J.V. Eagles were led by Stone Robinson with 16 points and ten rebounds, and Trenton Cox chipped in 13 points.
