Saturday schedule includes makeup basketball games for MH

It’s a busy Saturday with basketball, wrestling and swimming on the local schedule.



Originally scheduled for Friday, the Mountain Home High School basketball teams will play their first district games on their home floor. The Bombers and Lady Bombers welcome Vilonia to the Hangar.

Mountain Home’s girls are currently 7-8 on the season and 0-1 in the 6A/5A-2. The Lady Bombers are coming off a one-point loss to Batesville on Tuesday. Vilonia is 10-3 and 1-0. The Lady Eagles’ district opener was a win over Morrilton.

The Mountain Home boys are 5-9 overall and 1-0 in district action. The Bombers picked up a one-point overtime victory over Batesville four nights ago. Vilonia is 7-5 and 0-1. The Eagles’ last game was a loss to Morrilton.

The junior varsity games tip off at five p.m. The varsity contests begin around 6:00 and can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com.



The championship games of the 43rd annual North Arkansas College Senior Boys and Girls Tournament at the Pioneer Pavilion in Harrison. The girls’ game tips off at 6:00 as Norfork faces Jasper, and Cotter will play in the boys’ contest against Alpena at 7:15.

Gainesville’s girls will compete in the semifinals of the Lady Trojan Tournament at Sparta. The Lady Bulldogs meet Blue Eye at 5:30.



A few local junior high basketball teams will be in Lynn for the start of the Hillcrest Junior Invitational Tournament. In girls’ action, Salem and Mammoth Spring tip off at 9:00, and Izard County takes on Maynard at 11:20. The Salem boys will be paired with Walnut Ridge at 10:10.

In other junior high basketball, Marshall’s girls travel to Clinton.



The Mountain Home High School wrestling team will be in Fayetteville for the Bulldog Classic. The start time is set for 9:00.



Mountain Home’s swim teams will also be in Fayetteville as they compete in a meet at the University of Arkansas Natatorium. Action gets underway at 10:00.
