5 area schools awarded regional, state events by AAA

The Arkansas Activities Association announced its sites for upcoming postseason tournaments and events, and five area schools came away with winning bids.

A pair of regional basketball tournaments in Class 1A will be played at local high schools beginning February 22nd. Calico Rock is the site for the Region 2 Tournament, and Omaha will host Region 1.

Two schools in Boone County will be the designated hosts for various baseball and softball tournaments, and all will be played in May at the Equity Bank Sports Complex in Harrison. Lead Hill was awarded the Class 1A Region 1 Tournament for both sports and the Class 1A State Tournament for softball. Bergman will host the Class 3A Region 3 Tournament for softball and the Class 3A State Tournament.

Harrison High School had the winning bid for two state events. The Goblins will host Class 5A State Track and Field Meet in May at F.S. Garrison Stadium, and they were also awarded the Class 5A State Volleyball Tournament later this fall.
