The Cotter High School boys’ basketball team went to Brockwell on Friday and suffered a 51-44 loss to Izard County. Maddux Adams led the Warriors with 16 points, and Landon Martin added 12. For the Cougars, Tanner Brooks scored 14 points, and Taylor Reynolds chipped in 12. Cotter falls to 22-6 on the season and 7-3 in the 2A/1A-3. Izard County improves to 21-8 and 10-0.

The girls’ game needed overtime as Cotter fell to Izard County 60-52. The Lady Warriors were led by Alexa Wooten with 16 points and 16 rebounds, and Hannia Garay and Marie Reed each scored ten points. Jen King had 23 points for the Lady Cougars before she went out with an injury in the extra period, and Sam King provided 16 points. Cotter drops to 12-12 overall and 4-6 in the district, and they’ll travel to Salem on Tuesday. Izard County is 19-4 and 8-2.

The evening began with Cotter losing the junior girls’ game to Izard County 38-28. Laney Rider paced the Junior Lady Cougars with 24 points.



Yellville-Summit split a pair of high school games with Valley Springs.

The boys’ game ended with the Panthers edging out the Tigers 56-54. Yellville-Summit was led by Seth Evans with 16 points, and Cameron Curtis had 11.

It was a different result in the girls’ contest as Yellville-Summit fell to Valley Springs 46-39. Abby Helmke was the Lady Panthers’ top scorer with 13 points.



Salem’s high school teams ended up splitting with Mammoth Spring.

The Lady Greyhounds took the girls’ game over the Lady Bears 56-45. Stephine Henry led Mammoth Spring with 23 points, and Brianna Hocum finished with 13. The Lady Bears drop to 9-12 on the year and 3-6 in the 2A/1A-3.

Salem did not fare as well in the boys’ game as they were toppled by Mammoth Spring 51-39. The Bears were led by Brett Mayfield with 17 points, and Sagen Godwin added 11. Mammoth Spring is now 16-6 overall and 6-2 in district play.

Mammoth Spring will host Norfork on Tuesday.



Mountain Home Christian Academy went on the road and picked up a sweep over Mountain Grove Christian Academy.

The Eagles took the varsity game by a 70-54 decision. Matt Woods scored 26 points and dished out 12 assists for Mountain Home Christian, and Cooper Long chipped in 18 points and grabbed ten rebounds.

Mountain Home Christian also won the junior varsity contest 48-40 over Mountain Grove Christian. Trenton Cox ended up with 15 points for the J.V. Eagles, and Landon Jines had 13.
