ASUMH announces Community Education spring classes

     Arkansas State University Mountain Home has announced their Continuing Education Course Schedule of classes and workshops for the spring semester. These non-credit classes are for fun and are open to the entire community.

     The following classes are currently scheduled, more are being planned and those interested in the classes are encouraged to register early.

     Classes begin Thursday with “Can You Beat Cancer With A Fork?”, a health foods class offered at the Vada Sheid Community Development Center Thursday morning from 10 to 11:30. The course costs $20.

     “L.E.A.N. Start” is a health course for the entire family and includes workbook, recipes, and interactive activities. The course is broken into multiple sessions and cost $60 for the entire course. The classes will be at the Vada Sheid Community Development Center on Saturdays starting January 21st from 9 a.m. until noon.

     “Prime Time Health Workshop” is a course that will help plan for healthy aging. The course is broken into multiple sessions and cost $60 for the entire course. The course is offered at two different times Monday mornings at 10 or Monday evenings at 6. Both sessions are at the Vada Sheid Community Development Center and classes start January 23rd.

     “ACT Prep Course” is a class to help high school students prepare for the ACT. Students will need #2 pencils, TI-80 calculator, and a 3 ring binder. The class is offered on February 4th, April 1st, and June 3rd from 9 to 3:30 and includes a one hour lunch break. The class will be held at Gotaas Hall and costs $40.

     “Photography Editing” is a course that will cover a variety of photo editing software and tools. This class takes place Tuesday evenings from six until eight at the Integrity First Hall, F207 beginning February 7th and costs $60.

     “Frog Watch Workshop” is a course that will teach how to identify all of the frogs and toads in our area by their calls. This class is free and takes place at the Vada Sheid Community Development Center Thursday evening, February 23rd, from 6 until 8:30.

     “Microsoft Excel” will cover the basic tools and methods used to create worksheets and workbooks. The class is Monday evenings from 6 until 8 starting February 27th. The location will be announced at a later date and it costs $65.

     “Microsoft Word” will teach the basics to Microsoft Word. Is class will be Thursday evenings from 6 to 8 starting March 2nd. The location will be announced at a later date and it costs $65.

     “Beginning Computers” will cover the basic functions of a computer, how to use the mouse and keyboard, and the internet. This class will be Friday afternoons 1 until 3 starting March 3rd. The location will be announced at a later date and it costs $50.

     “Advanced Computers” is an expansion of the “Beginning Computers” course. This class will be Friday afternoons from 3 to 5 starting March 3rd. The location will be announced at a later date and it costs $50.

     “Advanced Digital Photography” will cover advanced Digital Photography techniques and practices through lectures and projects. This class is on Tuesday evenings from six until 8 starting March 28th. Classes will take place at the Integrity First Hall F207 and costs $60.

     “Beginning Digital Photography” will cover the fundamentals and techniques of digital photography. This class is on Thursday evenings from six until 8 starting March 30th. Classes will take place at the Integrity First Hall F207 and costs $60.

     “Beginning Fly Fishing” will cover all the basic skills in the sport of fly fishing. This class is on Thursday evenings from 6 to 8 starting March 30th. The location for classes will be announced at a later date and costs $80.

     “Quickbooks Pro” will cover the basic functions of the easy-to-use accounting software. This class is on Monday evenings from 6 to 8 starting April 17th. The location for classes will be announced at a later date and costs $65.

     “Basic Accounting for Small Business and Non-Profit” will cover the basic accounting steps and how to keep basic records. This class will be held on Thursday evenings from 6 to 8 starting April 20th. The location for classes will be announced at a later date and costs $65.

Visa, MasterCard, and Discover are all accepted forms of credit/debit cards. If paying in cash please have the exact amount. All checks must be made payable to ASUMH.
