Mtn. Home Downtown merchants donate to MHPS Bridges program

The Mountain Home Downtown Merchants recently presented a check for over $700 to the Mountain Home Schools Bridges program, a program which began this school year with a goal of removing the barriers children in poverty encounter. Lori Gregory of Gregory Jewelers, a member of the Downtown Merchants, says the funds came from the sale of hot cocoa during the Mountain Home Christmas Parade held in early December.

Each year the merchants donate proceeds from the event to a different local non-profit organization, according to Gregory. She says the businesses downtown have always been committed to and investing in the community. This year, she says, they loved the idea of partnering with Bridges to make sure the needs of children in Mountain Home schools are being met.

In expressing gratitude to the Downtown Merchants for their donation, Czantskowski says the community has been very supportive of Bridges and it is through this generosity Bridges is able to help meet the needs of Mountain Home students.

Bridges provides both necessary items to meet basic needs and desired items that help increase a student’s self esteem and give them pride in themselves and their work. Bridges also works was a liaison between community agencies with existing resources and families in need.
