Senator Missy Irvin on tax cuts and Good Samaritan law

     House Bill 1159, Governor Asa Hutchinson’s $50 million low-income tax cut plan, was approved by all local State Representatives Monday by a vote of 90 to two. The Senate earlier approved an identical version of the plan on a 33 to zero vote.

     Mountain View Senator Missy Irvin of District 18 has more, as well as an update concerning the revamped Arkansas Good Samaritan Law.

     According to Senator Irvin, the Senate Monday also ammended a law, originally passed two years ago, which allows drug overdose victims to seek medical attention without being prosecuted.

Senator Irvin says the ammendment of the Good Samaritan Law is important because overdoses on drugs, especially opioids, have increased dramatically. She says drug overdoses now rank among the leading cause of death among the ages of 25 to 64.
