     Facing an unplanned pregnancy or the possibility of a sexually transmitted disease can be a frightening prospect for any woman or man, regardless of age. For anyone in the Twin Lakes area who finds themselves in this situation, caring support provided by medical professionals in a safe environment can be found at the Pregnancy Resource Center of Mountain Home. Executive Director Mary Collins says they have a number of services to help anyone.

     Collins says the Pregnancy Resource Center says their clients, male and female, between the ages of 12 and 46, made over 18,000 visits to their facility.

     The only facility of its kind in North Central Arkansas, the Pregnancy Resource Center is a faith based organization staffed by medical professionals, who volunteer their services, trained staff members and other volunteers. Dr. Lonnie Robinson, a physician with Regional Family Medicine in Mountain Home, is their medical director volunteering his services, according to Collins.

     A faith based organization, the Pregnancy Resource Center of Mountain Home relies primarily on donations and fund raising efforts for financial support. The next segment in this series on the Pregnancy Resource Center will focus support provided to the center by local churches which enables the center to provide free services and supplies to new mothers and their babies as well as educational outreach in the community.
