Regional tournament play came to an end Saturday in Arkansas.



The championship trophies of the Class 1A Region 2 Tournament were handed out at Calico Rock.

Norfork is currently ranked number one in Class 1 by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, and they took the girls’ title after defeating Izard County 55-36. Jen King led the Lady Cougars with ten points. Izard County falls to 31-7 on the season.

Izard County fared better in the boys’ final as they topped Bay 80-61. The Cougars were led by Taylor Reynolds with 33 points, Tanner Brooks and Justus Cooper each scored 16, and Dallas Farmer added 11. Izard County improves to 33-9 on the year.



The Class 1A Region 1 Tournament came to an end at Omaha.

The host teams split the third place games with Alpena. The Lady Eagles won the girls’ game over the Lady Leopards 36-29. It was a different result on the boys’ side as Omaha fell to Alpena 73-71.

Jasper had mixed results in the championship games. The girls’ title went to the Lady Pirates as they beat the Lady Yellowjackets 71-55. Jasper was not as fortunate in the boys’ contest as they lost to Deer 59-46.



Three local teams wrapped up play in the Class 3A Region 3 Tournament at Riverside High School in Lake City.

Marshall was able to finish in third place on the boys’ bracket. The Bobcats got past Clinton 53-46.

The girls’ third place game went to Mountain View. The Lady Yellowjackets picked up a 47-37 victory over Osceola.

Valley Springs’ girls finished the tournament as regional runners-up. The Lady Tigers fell to Hoxie 49-42.



In Missouri, Branson’s boys were one and done in the Class 5, District 11 Tournament at Glendale High School in Springfield. The Pirates were eliminated by Springfield Parkview 75-59. Branson’s season comes to an end at 5-22.
