Tuesday schedule includes season opener for MH baseball team

It’s a fairly busy Tuesday on the local sports scene as the schedule includes the season opener for the Mountain Home High School baseball team. The Bombers will travel to Jonesboro to meet Westside.
Mountain Home is coming off a season in which they finished as Class 6A state runners-up with a record of 10-20. The Bombers won three of their last four games to advance to the state finals in Fayetteville where they fell to Jonesboro. Mountain Home head coach Jim Tejcek says it was a memorable ending to the 2016 campaign, and he would like to see that momentum continue.

The varsity game begins at four p.m. followed by the junior varsity contest.

The Mountain Home High School track teams will host Harrison for preseason competition. The Blue-Gold Meet is set to begin at 3:30 at Bomber Stadium. Following the meet, a parent meeting for track athletes in eighth through 12th grade at 5:15 inside Bomber Gymnasium.

The West Plains girls’ basketball team will play their first game in the Class 4, District 9 Tournament at Bolivar. After having a first round bye, the top-seeded Lady Zizzers will take on the host Lady Liberators in the semifinals. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00.
