Tuesday’s state tournament play inlcudes Norfork girls facing Concord

Several high school basketball teams will begin state tournament play Tuesday in Arkansas, and Norfork’s girls head to Mount Ida as the top-ranked team in Class 1A by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. The Lady Panthers’ first opponent in the Class 1A State Tournament will be Concord.

Norfork comes into the tournament at 39-1 on the season. The Lady Panthers extended their current win streak to 33 games when they defeated Izard County for the Region 2 championship on Saturday, and head coach Josh Laymon says his team is looking to continue the momentum this week.

Concord has a record of 22-11. The Lady Pirates won their first round matchup over Scranton on Monday.
Tip-off is scheduled for seven p.m. Tuesday’s game can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com.

In the other games at Mount Ida, Jasper’s girls meet Wonderview at 4:00, and the Izard County boys face Mineral Springs at 8:30.
