(AP) – Arkansas’ governor says he opposes an effort to remove

Bill and Hillary Clinton’s name from Little Rock’s airport, saying the

Legislature shouldn’t interfere with what the facility’s name is.

Republican Gov. Asa Hutchinson said Tuesday he respects an airport board’s

decision to name it after the former president and first lady and said the

decision should remain with the entity that owns the airport. A bill filed last

week would effectively force the Little Rock Airport Commission to rename it.

The Republican lawmaker behind the bill has said Arkansas shouldn’t honor a

former president who was impeached over his affair with a White House intern.

Hutchinson is a former congressman who helped prosecute the impeachment case

against Clinton in the U.S. Senate.
