SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) – A man who caused a long standoff with southwest Missouri officers has been sentenced to eight years in prison without parole for being a felon in possession of firearms.
Federal prosecutors say 40-year-old Jesse Ivey, of Lebanon, was sentenced Monday.
Investigators say Ivey led officers on a chase in January 2016 before crashing in Laclede County and fleeing into a wooded area. In February 2016, officers searching a Lebanon home heard Ivey in an attic space. He refused to come out and a nine-hour standoff ensued before he surrendered.
During the chase in January, officers found four loaded firearms in the vehicle he wrecked. They also found a rifle in the home where the standoff occurred.
Because he had two previous felony convictions, Ivey was prohibited from having weapons.
