MH girls among teams competing Thursday in state tournaments

State tournament play continues Thursday for high school basketball in Arkansas, and Mountain Home’s girls will be in Pearcy for their opener. The Lady Bombers meet Benton in the Class 6A State Tournament at Lake Hamilton High School.
Mountain Home comes into the game after finishing third in the 6A-East Conference Tournament on Saturday. The Lady Bombers are 18-12 on the season coming off a dramatic overtime victory over West Memphis, and head coach Dell Leonard is looking for his team to build off that win.

Benton is the sixth-seeded team from 6A-West. The Lady Panthers lost the fifth place game to Greenwood during the weekend.
Tip-off is scheduled for one p.m. Thursday’s game can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com.

Three area teams will play their first games in the Class 3A State Tournament at Bald Knob. In girls’ action, Valley Springs tips off at 1:00 against Marianna, and Mountain View faces the host Lady Bulldogs at 4:00. The Marshall boys take on Tuckerman at 5:30.

Harrison’s boys will have the first quarterfinal of the Class 5A State Tournament at Magnolia. The Goblins will be paired with Little Rock Parkview at 8:30.

The Jasper boys will take part in their first game of the Class 1A State Tournament at Mount Ida. The Pirates are set to play Bradley at 5:30.
