State quarterfinals include girls' teams from MH, Norfork

State tournaments continue in Arkansas with quarterfinal action on Friday, and Mountain Home’s girls are looking to advance to Saturday’s final four in the Class 6A State Tournament at Lake Hamilton High School in Pearcy. The Lady Bombers will be matched up with the host Lady Wolves.

Mountain Home are currently 19-12 on the year. The Lady Bombers, seeded third in the East, defeated Benton in Thursday’s first round action. This will be Lake Hamilton’s opening game in the tournament after having a first round bye. The Lady Wolves’ last game was Saturday when they fell to Sheridan in the championship game of the 6A-West Conference Tournament.

Tip-off is scheduled for seven p.m. Friday’s game can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com.



The Norfork girls will return to Mount Ida for their quarterfinal game of the Class 1A State Tournament. The Lady Panthers’ opponent will be Kingston.

Norfork brings a record of 40-1 into the game as the top-seeded team from Region 2. The Lady Panthers began the tournament on Tuesday with a 45-point victory over Concord. Kingston has the number two seed from Region 1. The Lady Yellowjackets’ first game was Thursday when they eliminated Ouachita.

Gametime is set for 7:00. Friday’s game can be heard on KTLO-FM 97.9 and streaming live at ktlo.com.

Izard County’s boys will follow for the last quarterfinal game of the tournament. The Cougars will be matched up with Bradley at 8:30.



Two area girls’ teams will compete in the quarterfinals of the Class 3A State Tournament at Bald Knob. Valley Springs meets Lamar at 4:00, and Mountain View faces Charleston at 7:00.



The Harrison girls will be back in Magnolia for their quarterfinal game of the Class 5A State Tournament. The Lady Goblins take on Pulaski Academy at 7:00.
