Norfork girls among area teams to play in state semifinals

Arkansas high school basketball comes down to the semifinal round, and Norfork’s girls are one of four area teams looking to punch their ticket to Bank of the Ozarks Arena in Hot Springs. The Lady Panthers will face Wonderview Saturday in the semifinals of the Class 1A State Tournament at Mount Ida.

Norfork comes into the game at 41-1 on the season, and they are the top-seeded team from Region 1. The Lady Panthers beat up on Kingston Friday in the quarterfinals. Wonderview advanced with a victory over Kirby. The Lady Daredevils are the number three seed from Region 3.

This will be the second meeting of the season between Norfork and Wonderview. The Lady Panthers fell to the Lady Daredevils 59-46 on November 4th at the Bobby D. Hulse Gymnasium.

Tip-off is scheduled for six p.m. Saturday’s game can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com.

The Izard County boys will take the court in the final game at Mount Ida as they also look to advance to next weekend’s state championship game. The Cougars will be paired with Shirley at 7:30.



Two local girls’ teams will face each other in the semifinals of the Class 3A State Tournament at Bald Knob. Mountain View and Valley Springs will tip off at 6:00 for the right to move on to Hot Springs.
