Norfork rally falls short, season ended in state semifinals

The Norfork High School girl’s basketball team furious fourth quarter rally fell short Saturday night as they had their season ended at the Class A State Tournament at Mount Ida. Brad Haworth has the details.

For three quarters, Wonderview dominated the Lady Panthers before Norfork put together a wild fourth quarter rally but it came up short as they lost 54-47. The Lady Daredevils took a 23 point lead into the fourth quarter, up 44-21. But Norfork opened the final period with a rally for the ages, going on a 23-3 run to close the gap to three and had two shots in the paint to cut it to one. But Wonderview was able to hit their free throws in the final two miutes to hold on for the seven point victory.
Norfork struggled from the free throw line, missing their first nine and hitting only five of 17 free throws for the night.
Marleigh Dodson led Norfork with 20 points, 12 of which came in the fourth quarter, and Kelcey Acklin added 11 points. Norfork had their 35 game winning streak snapped and finishes the year with a 41-2 record, with both losses coming to Wonderview.
The Lady Daredevils improve to 38-4 and move into their fourth state championship game in the last six years next week against Bay.
