2A/1A-3 announces All-District, All-State basketball honors

Several postseason basketball honors to local athletes were announced this week.



Among the high school girls, All-State selections went to Marleigh Dodson and Kelcy Acklin of Norfork and Izard County’s Kennedy Cooper. Acklin and Cooper were also nominated for the Arkansas High School Coaches Association All-Star Game to be held in June on the campus of the University of Central Arkansas in Conway. Dodson, Acklin and Cooper were joined on the 2A/1A-3 All-District team by Alexa Wooten and Rebecca Martin of Cotter, Norfork’s Ivy McGowan and Macy Dillard, Karlee Wood of Flippin, Emily Perriman of Viola, Salem’s Kaylea Walling and Madison Sellars, Brianna Hocum of Mammoth Spring, Kallie Fry and Megan Hiles of Calico Rock and Izard County’s Jen and Sam King.



The 2A/1A-3’s All-State honors on the boys’ side went to Logan Skaggs of Mammoth Spring and Izard County’s Taylor Reynolds and freshman Justus Cooper. Reynolds and Skaggs were also among the local All-Star nominations along with Travis Lewis of Norfork. Other All-District selections went to Maddux Adams, Matthew Gorbet and Landon Martin of Cotter, Norfork’s Grant Casey, Tanner Theobald of Flippin, Jon Martin of Viola, Salem’s Stephen Shoup, Sagen Godwin of Mammoth Spring, Brenden Sneathern and Hunter Johnson of Calico Rock, and Tanner Brooks and Dallas Farmer of Izard County.



In the junior boys’ division, the 2A/1A-3 All-District team includes Cotter’s Dylan Dwyer, Tyler Sorters of Norfork, Brycen Baker and Lance May of Flippin, Viola’s Gage Harris and Caleb MacLeod, Tyler Guffey, Bryson Love and Riley Gray of Salem, Daniel Mayfield, Zack Flynn and Chris Cray of Mammoth Spring, Kaiden Withrow of Calico Rock and Izard County’s Caleb Faulkner, Coby Everett and Chase Orf.



The junior girls’ All-District honors went to Paige Clawson of Cotter, Kynzie Rangel of Norfork, Flippin’s Kyra Hargrove, Bre Sample and Emily Davenport, Braidlyn Fierce, Keyiera Moore, Lindsey Browning Sammi McCandlis of Viola, Kylee Humphries and MacKenzie Hill of Salem, Mammoth Spring’s Shelby Van Ginhovan and Kelli Young, Kaylee Pool and Emma Mitchell of Calico Rock and Laney Rider of Izard County.
